Brodart donates $5000 to hurricane relief fund
Chicago—As part of an American Library Association (ALA) initiative to help victims of Hurricane Katrina, Brodart Company made a $5000 donation to the ALA Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
All ALA members were encouraged to contribute $10, but Brodart took the lead with its recent donation. Monies received, as part of this effort, will go directly toward rebuilding the over 100 school libraries and 25 public libraries that were damaged and destroyed beyond repair as a result of the Golf Coast disaster.
“I want to thank the hundreds of ALA members that have contributed to the fund so far, including donations from corporate members such as ALA Library Champion, The Brodart Company, which recently donated to the fund,” said ALA President-elect Leslie Burger.
As of mid-October, the ALA Hurricane Katrina Library Relief Fund raised $50,000 toward the goal of $500,000.
